Team Development

When the whole is less than the sum of its parts

Some teams are made up of highly skilled people and yet still struggle to gain momentum. Agreements are not followed through, responsibilities overlap, and issues are not raised in meetings but discussed afterwards in the corridor. Not because anyone is doing a poor job – but because no one has clarified how the team should work together.

The essentials of this workshop

When this topic becomes relevant:

The team has recently been formed, has grown or has undergone restructuring. There is plenty of discussion, but few decisions are made. Some team members take on a great deal, while others hold back. Or there is tension in the room that everyone senses but no one addresses.

What we work on:

Clarifying who is responsible for what – and where responsibilities remain unclear. Agreeing on how decisions are made, information is shared and disagreement is expressed within the team. Building trust by voicing expectations rather than assuming they are understood. And making the team’s existing strengths visible and useful for collaboration.

How it works:

As a one- or two-day workshop with the entire team, often away from the usual working environment. Beforehand, I hold brief individual conversations with team members to understand their different perspectives and gain a fuller picture of the situation. The leader takes part in the workshop as a member of the team.

What changes:

Teams that have clarified how they work together make decisions more quickly and address problems sooner. For the company, this means less friction, less time spent coordinating and a team that actually uses the expertise it has.

Does this fit your situation?

Let’s talk. In a no-obligation initial conversation, we will clarify what your situation is really about – and whether a workshop is the right format.
