A full calendar looks like proof.
I'm needed. I'm close to things. I'm not leaving my team on their own.
In trainings I ask leaders which meetings of the week produced a decision. The answer often takes longer than expected.
Much of what fills a calendar isn't leadership but reassurance. You attend so you don't miss anything. You listen so you can join the conversation later.
That's understandable. But it costs exactly the time that's missing for the two or three matters only the leader can settle.
Being available is not the same as being effective.
